Hamburgs one-stop-shop “Hamburger Energielotsen” is operating as a successful cooperation model since 2019. Since the start over 5,514 guests were welcomed in the online events on energy efficient construction and 33,557 consultations were carried out. This year, there is again an enormous demand, so that the Hamburg Senate had already approved a supplement for 1,000 additional consultations annually.

The general conditions for successful energy renovation are determined by the existing massive shortage of skilled workers, by inflation-related cost increases and supply bottlenecks for building materials and systems engineering. In the meantime, new innovative advisory approaches and cooperation models are developing nationwide in Germany to raise the still stagnating renovation rate in the building stock.

Energy consultation 2.0

In a discussion on the future of energy consultation on 1st of February it was debated how the information and advisory services in Hamburg should be developed to accelerate the implementation of measures. Representatives of the Hamburger Energielotsen, the Chamber of Crafts, the Chamber of Commerce, the municipal energy supplier, the consumer advice centre, the Authority for urban development and housing and the Authority for Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture met to exchange perspectives.

Impulses from I-HEROS

The ZEBAU project team was there as a partner in the I-HEROS project to bring in the perspective from Toulouse Métropole and the findings from the studies carried out so far on the transferability of the project approach to other cities and municipalities. In the discussion it became clear that the innovative approaches from Toulouse Métropole Rénov could be fruitful for Hamburg. For example, the directory of construction companies would be a helpful tool for the energy consultants to guide the homeowners on the path to realise their renovation project. Furthermore, the proactive approach of going into the neighbourhoods is an important approach to reach buildings with the highest need for modernisation. And the digital tools to manage renovations of condominiums could be helpful to track the whole process and to make successes visible.
